For many school leavers the path to take after secondary school can be a daunting task.

The Youth Development Programme helped to make this decision easier for students at the Princess Margaret Secondary School with its Bridge To The Future initiative, which was held at the Princess Margaret School on Wednesday, March 7th, 2024.

The mainly upper and lower fifth students at the Princess Margaret Secondary School had the opportunity to hear about some of the initiatives and programmes in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment and from other organisations such as the University of West Indies Cave Hill Campus, National Transformation Initiative, Barbados Revenue Authority and the Barbados Vocational Training Board.

From the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, there were representatives from our Barbados National Youth Parliament, Pathways Employability Programme, Barbados YouthADVANCE Corps and the Next Steps Training Initiative Digital Media Film programme.

The representatives told the students what their respective organisations did and the opportunities that are available to them.

The hosts for the proceedings this morning was Youth Commissioner David Brathwaite. Project Bridge To The Future was coordinated by Youth Commissioner Carolyn Garnes.
