Vision & Mission
Our mission is to promote sports as a worthwhile activity for all Barbadians by providing healthy lifestyles, social, psychological and economic benefits. Sustainable development will be assured through the Ministry's various programmes by: Increasing participation in sports, promoting healthy lifestyles and the exploration of sports as a viable industry.
Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment (MYSCE) is responsible for building a stable and cohesive society through the empowerment and full involvement of youth and communities in the social and economic development of Barbados. MYSCE has developed programmes and projects to increase youth engagement, reduce youth crime and violence, enhance skills development in the community and to boost employability and employment.
These are undertaken through the following Sub-Programmes:
We empower individuals with the aim of creating a country full of inspired, educated, respectful and innovative members. By providing the youth with a platform to learn, develop and be heard, we’re equipping them with the tools to have a positive impact on their lives and those of the people around them.
To build a thriving Barbados, we need programmes that provide opportunities and inspire the community to pull in the same direction. Through strategic partnerships, government and non-government organisations and community activation, we work to inspire shared personal, professional and community values that enable the economic development of Barbados.
Capturing the minds of young people now and giving them opportunities to learn and thrive will have a lasting impact on the wider Barbados economy now and in the future. Through ongoing youth engagement, the aim is to reduce crime and violence while developing skilled young people with positive personal and social values, thus increasing employment and employment opportunities.
Through programmes, events and partnerships, the Ministry presents a diverse range of opportunities for young people to become involved in organised activities. With continuous monitoring and analysis, we ensure all programmes remain relevant and have a high impact on young people’s lives.
